Donncha O’Grady is an Irish tenor banjo player born in County Kildare, Ireland. Growing up in Australia with strong connections to his home, Donncha’s music is rooted in rich tradition, while reflecting his experience as a young musician from the Irish diaspora. In 2024, Donncha competed at the highest level, winning two All-Ireland titles in both banjo and tune composition at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. He is an active member of Melbourne’s thriving traditional music community, playing at several regular sessions around the city and teaching children and adults at Melbourne Comhaltas on a weekly basis.

Donncha is also a member of the new up and coming folk band, ‘The Surround’, playing banjo and bouzouki.
