Tin Whistle

Probably one of the most easily accessible instruments available to start learning traditional music. Almost every mainstream music store will have a cheap tin whistle on their shelf. Even the cheapest of whistle will get you through a great sesh. Players of most instruments will have learned at least a few tunes on the whistle. Many dedicated players carry them in a few different sizes for tunes outside of the regular D/G whistle range. They also come in Low D (one octave lower than standard), it’s a bit of a finger stretch but give a lovely breathy sound more similar to the flute. Go and buy a tin whistle today, it’s a great lightweight, affordable way to start learning tunes.
