Anna has a passion for music and student-informed education. She began teaching piano in 2015 and loves playing and teaching classical, jazz, folk, contemporary and other styles. She dabbles in guitar, Bodhran (Irish drum), singing and cello and has performed in numerous choirs and bands and on three folk style albums.
For the DCMW, Anna will be leading Bodhran classes. Bodhran basics to brilliance. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners through to more experienced bodhran players. Learn essential techniques, how to identify and play a variety of time signatures and types of tunes (reels, jigs, slip jigs, hornpipes, polkas, waltzes and more). The tutorials will be flexible to suit attendees, so bring your questions for Anna and aspects of playing you’d like to focus on. Participants should bring their own bodhran and be able to tap their foot in time to music.
Saturday Elective: Sing your hearts out in harmony. Matt and Anna will teach a contemporary folk song in 4 parts. All voices, ages and abilities welcome!
