Session Players Tasmania are proud to bring you our fourth Deloraine Celtic Music School, 22-24 January 2027. All classes and events will again be at the Western Tiers Community Club, Our Lady Of Mercy Catholic School, and the Empire Hotel.
Classes for Fiddle, Flute/Whistle and Anglo Concertina are available. This year we have arranged separate classes for Tenor Banjo and Mandolin. Due to popular demand, singing classes and singing sessions have been added to the program. Phil Smethurst and Ciaran O’Grady will run elective classes on Saturday and Sunday focusing on melodeon/button box accordion. Phil has a couple of spare melodeon/button box accordions if anyone would like to attend and have a try, all skill levels welcome. Please contact us if you might be interested but don’t have your own instrument. Limited amounts of other instruments are also available for loan over the weekend. Beginner classes (1 hour per day) for Anglo Concertina, Fiddle and Whistle are also on offer. Dini (Lyn Munden) will run a Soda-bread making elective again this year. Due to there being no Monday public holiday next to our weekend, we will be holding an acoustic blackboard concert on Sunday afternoon. Six ten minute spots (two items) are available for anyone to perform in a low pressure environment. Please contact us if wanting to give this a go.
